FC Barcelona has announced the signing a contract with the Spanish coach “Quique Setién” to train the first team, succeeding its predecessor Ernesto Valverde, signing a two and a half year contract which will last until 2022.
Tuesday, January 14, The Catalan club, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu, decided to kick his coach Ernesto Valverde after his defeat by Atletico Madrid 2-3 in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup. A few hours later, the new coach “Quique Setién” was presented to the media.
This put the former Real Betis coach in the spotlight, to know the details of his career, and to get closer to his technical identity and his suitability with the Barça DNA.

1/10 – Beach soccer in his beginning
Quique Setién began his football career playing beach soccer.
In the late 1990s, beach football took off in Spain. Quique Setién plays several games with the national beach soccer team led by Joaquín Alonso.
He qualified with the selection for the first time at the World Championship in the 19987 edition. Setién played for seven years with “La Roja” (1997-2003) and won the Euro Beach Soccer League in 1999 and 2000, finishing top scorer of the first tournament.
