3/10 – Haunted Old Changi Hospital, Singapore

With its peeling white walls and foreboding architecture, the abandoned Old Changi Hospital looks considerably just like the setting of a horror movie. And indeed the structure said to be the “most haunted place in Singapore,” has been the backdrop for a found-footage screamer called Haunted Changi in 2010.
Back within the 1940s, it had been exploited by Japanese forces and used as a medical building for prisoners-of-war during war II. But instead of being used used to treat POWs, the hospital was reportedly used as a room to urge information out of them. After the war, the hospital was eventually passed to the Ministry of Health, which opened it to the general public but because it had been situated on a hill, it had been difficult for both patients and healthcare personnel to maneuver around using the steep flights of stairs. This led to the Old Changi Hospital being vacant to the present day. Shortly after its abandonment, the derelict building became one among the foremost popular spots in Singapore for ghost sightings.
